“The Miner Bits” uses the latest versions of HTML the framework of all webpages and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) which tells a browser what a webpage should look like.

If you use an older browser you’ll still be able to read the material and see most of the images here on “The Bits” but you’ll be missing out on some of its design and behavior and some of the pages may look ‘broken’. You’ll also be missing out on a lot of the best stuff when you venture out into the vast open world of the Web beyond.

So, why did I build my website to work best on ‘modern’ browsers? Well, because it’s my personal site and I’m not interested in putting in all the extra work that would be needed to support old out of date browsers. Most of that work would be hacks that wouldn’t come close to reproducing what you’d see in a modern browser.

So, I strongly recommend that you keep your browser up to date…it’s easy. In fact your browser will check for and install updates if you ask it to:

Below is a list of browser sites where you can download and install updates for your browser of choice if you decide to do it yourself. The list is in order of their worldwide usage rate. If you’re interested in seeing the most recent browser usage statistics they can be found HERE: click on the browser’s name to see which versions are being used most.
